Chocolate De Batirol: A Unique Chocolate experience

In my search for a free laptop friendly Wi Fi place I ended up in Serendra Fort Bonifacio in a resto called Chocolate De Batirol. It caught my attention because of their free wi fi sign. Without second thought I asked if there was also a place that I could plug in my now dying ACE battery (ACE is the name I gave my new laptop :)) and thankfully they said they do. As I sat at their outdoor dinning set I was immediately impressed with the way things were so oddly shaped yet quite artful. Even the chairs were made of solid wood, the kind that was as if it were carved straight out of a tree. I took a peak inside and was further impressed at their fusion of modern art and wood furnishings giving it a barrio modern twist.

The menu was brought to me and it reminded me of how menu's were presented in the small cafe's that were along the road to baguio. What was described in the menu though was quite alluring. There was a lot of gourmet dishes to choose from that was both local and european in its orientation and a couple that were seemingly a fusion of both. What caught my attention and intrigue was the Baguio chocolate batirol and their fried chili with cheese dip. They even had fresh seasonal fruit shakes (thankfully just the real fruits and no milk - lactose intolerance is definitely an asian thing). While waiting I just had an urge to smoke and gladly it was allowed since I was seated in their outside area when they gave a rather curious looking ash tray that resembled the tree stump type of seating they had. When the food was finally served I couldn't help but take a photo of them as they looked so pleasing aesthetically making my urge to chomp down those seemingly innocent looking deep fried chili and cheese. Being a chocolate lover though I just had to try their batirol blend first and was pleasantly greated by a thick, rich and warm chocolate taste. It was just the right bitter sweet taste. Then came the chili which I dipped in a lavish white cheesy dip and to my surprise they too had the right amount of spicyness (by this I mean the hotness factor was quite tolerable. To take out the spicy kick I slurped their watermelon fruit shake and was pleased to find that it was really made fresh from watermelons. I took a glance at their menu again and would have tried a lot more hadn't I felt the limit of how much I could actually eat at a time, but definitely with the way these first dishes had impressed upon my palate this was a place to come back to (that is aside from the free wi fi).

It is quite a cute little place right beside A Different Book Store in Serendra, Taguig. It is definitely worth a visit and an excellent place to work and think at the same time as one enjoys a pleasant cup of chocolate delights and delectables.

Bedspace: A Unique Party Experience

Bedspace is definitely a hip place to be. Me and friends go to this not so usual place to party either to start our party sessions or to end it. It is quite unique due to the way they live up to their name - there really are beds in the bar. Making it cozy and relaxing, but at the same time a dance floor and cool sounds to get your booty shaking.

It is a great place to eat too. Especially after your 12th Vodka and their popular Liquid Ecstasy(a must try drink - and no this isn't your druggy kind of drink, hehe), I'd bet you'd have worked up quite an appetite. If you find yourselves a bit too tipsy for your own good, then you'll find a definite place to lay your pretty little heads while the rest of your gang work their fun through the dance floor.

Their staff is just as pleasant. All of them willing to serve and help make you and your friend's stay here in this fun house even more pleasant. After all they would definitely want you to head home a happy and satisfied drunk to come back for more :).

Pictures are truly fun and enticing. The welcome smiles of everyone that hangs out in this place is the best testimony. All it takes is to drop by. Bedspace is easy to find. If you know Greenbelt 3, simply pop up in the 3rd level near Red Box (another fun place but that is a completely different story, soon) and your there. Who said that you can't have fun, find good food and of course have a bit to drink to liven up the end of your day. See you guys there.

PS. They also accept special parties and reservations. It's definitely worth a try. :)

Serendra: Fort Bonifacio's Latest Attraction

The Fort Bonifacio area is never going to be the same. Serendra has kicked into the social scene with an ambiance of luxury yet still quite reasonable for those on a budget. It has attracted a lot of people seeking something new to try and with the temptation comes the task of creating loyalty in which the restos have proven to be quite adept at. From Chinese to Classy Filipino cuisine. There are even a couple restos that have created an asian/european fusion to their menus. If food is not your thing, there are several fashion and apparel shops on the second level that is exclusive to the place and is sure to appeal to your visual palate. Bookstores and gift shops have also added to the spice. Your kids and family too are sure to enjoy the culture that this little place brings as it tingles the mind and the senses.

In one turn table glance of the place you are guaranteed to be mesmerized, finding yourselves seemingly lost from a reality of the tussle and bustle expected in a fast growing metropolitan.
It has found a compromise between contemporary art and zen, a blend that has given the place a pleasant twist that entices everyone to come and be ensnared in this quick temporary getaway. And if you have enough in terms of the greens and ninoys, you may even be tempted to splurge on more than just the food and fashion, you'd find yourselves wanting and wishing to make this your own haven, a sanctuary or maybe a home away from home as condos and loft apartments are up for sale.

It's not bad to dream, and it's not bad to try. All it takes is a ride and your here. Don't take my word for it. Experience this world, you never know you might actually like it.

Travel Tips 101

I travel quite a bit and sometimes cause of all the hectic things going around with the work, new novel, and other social stuff that I need to take care of, I end up forgetting a lot of things to consider before leaving and end up not maximizing the trip. That's when I find myself saying (Bummer). So to help others like myself here is a list of things to remember before we set our foot out of the door:

  • Are you fit to travel safely?
  • Do any special arrangements need to be made for travelling?
  • Will you need company?
  • Have you let the airline, cruise company, travel agency know about any special needs that you have?
  • Have you got enough medicines/medical supplies for the whole time away?
  • Carry needed supplies as hand carry. Check if it is allowed in the mode of transportation you are using. Planes may restrict stuff such as liquids.
  • Make sure you have your passport and an additional form of ID, such as a driver’s licence.
  • Take your Health Insurance Card
  • Take your travel insurance policy and certificate.
  • If you are flying, book in early and ask for a seat with plenty of leg room.
  • Have you got your doctor's prescription as proof for your medicines, if these are needed?
  • Do you have a medical summary from your doctor to take with you?
  • Of course don't forget to bring your camera. You wouldn't want to miss anything amazing on your journey.
Hope this helps. Remember to always look forward to the travel just as much as you look forward to your destination. For both of them are definitely part of the whole package.
